Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of up to 10 engineers with strong leadership skills
  • Identify optimization opportunities to make cloud infrastructure cost-efficient and work closely with software development and engineering teams
  • Understand the client's product and cloud architecture, analyzing associated costs for each environment segment
  • Collaborate with architects and engineers on resource optimization, waste management, and capacity planning
  • Monitor and investigate increases in cloud costs and usage anomalies
  • Track utilization of cloud reservation/savings plans and repurpose freed-up capacity
  • Derive insightful knowledge from data patterns and anomalies to inform strategic and operational decisions
  • Recommend savings opportunities related to cloud commitment purchases and track utilization of these commitments
  • Develop and maintain cloud costs and utilization reports, dashboards, and cost usage alerting and forecasting
  • Implement dashboards and automated reporting for cost and cost compliance
  • Create, automate, and govern Cost Optimization policies and best practices
  • Report KPIs and recommended savings opportunities
  • Partner with engineering teams to ensure effective cost improvements

Requirements

  • In-depth understanding of GCP cloud infrastructure, cost reporting, and optimization at scale
  • Experience with GCP EKS, Containerization, and expertise with GCP Cost Explorer, GCP Cost and Usage Report, GCP Budgets, CloudHealth
  • Proven ability to create cost optimization dashboards, models, and reports for engineering teams
  • Detail-oriented and skilled at turning data into actionable insights
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on multiple concurrent projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Eagerness to work with new and upcoming technologies
  • Working US hours required (PST)
