EPAM is looking for a Director of Product Engineering who will lead the implementation of a Next Generation Delivery & People Platform that will serve large enterprise-class clients as well as EPAM itself.

This successful individual must be a hands-on leader with a proven ability to deliver releases of the product ecosystem at least bi-weekly using the most radical agile methodology applicable for the task. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to deliver large/complex/enterprise platforms as well as the ability to inspire and grow large (100+) teams of talented engineers and engineering managers through continuous design, development, and rollouts of cutting-edge technology.

As a key member of the management team, they must provide the leadership and direction necessary to maintain the focus and drive of an exceptionally bright and technically diverse engineering team. This position requires not only outstanding business/management and organizational skills but also strong leadership qualities, including a hands-on, non-bureaucratic leadership style, the ability to understand enterprise and solution architecture, as well as deep technical skills with the ability to lead through the code, combined with an organizational understanding of making tough decisions and ensuring accountability for the results.

Responsibilities

  • Driving the definition and execution of the platform. Working closely with the Product Management, Marketing, Delivery and HR teams to guide the functional and technical direction of the core platform and provide strong leadership and accountability for the results
  • Developing and delivering strategic technology as well as policies and procedures to attain key technology goals
  • Formulating and recommending engineering practices and technical activities in accordance with program objectives. Initiating and implementing improvements in the engineering process, engineering quality, and fundamental engineering design
  • Addressing strategic architectural and tactical issues while maintaining the technological and organizational vision
  • Promoting a culture of hands-on deliverables, collaboration, accountability, innovation, entrepreneurship, and overall excellence
  • Driving priorities and strategies for product development, delivering via a series of MVPs and major releases
  • Leading the teams to implement the critical path, develop key metrics, monitor / measure the results, and continuously improve
  • Mentoring high-potential engineers and leads to assume greater future responsibilities
  • Directing, motivating and managing team members
  • Working with executive management to understand the business drivers, making tough decisions around competitive issues that impact the direction and strategies

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressively responsible enterprise delivery leadership and management experience. Broad experience in directing and getting work done hands-on; managing and enabling teams of 100+ engineers
  • Proven ability to effectively lead cross-functional teams and build processes to deliver results
  • Excellent management, leadership, communication skills
  • Solution/enterprise architecture skills
  • Ability to grasp new technologies quickly and hands-on; applicable engineering skills
  • Experience leading and managing technical staff of various levels and disciplines
  • Proven track record of delivering quality products within defined time constraints and within a budget in an agile methodology
  • Extremely strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in highly-dynamic / confusing environments where requirements shift often
  • Experience and comfort operating in a matrix-managed environment
  • Fluent Spoken and Written English
