Currently we are looking for a Senior Java Software Engineer for our Kyiv office to make the team even stronger.

Our client is the US leading provider of business information and analytics. It is a global company with proven experts in the areas like risk assessment, underwriting support, investment and marketing decisions, preventing fraud, and business performance improvement in daily operations. The company is opening new projects to re-platform legacy applications on a Pivotal Cloud Foundry platform. EPAM stands as an outsourcing partner on these kind of projects since 2016.

Our teams will work from Kyiv communicating to customers in Santa-Monica, CA and Dallas, TX offices, in a highly Agile environment, following XP practices, pair programming, TDD, 12-factors App guidelines, best CI/CD practices, etc.

The project aim is re-platforming legacy applications for multiple products in rental, property insurance and financial domain to new technology stack as well as Greenfield development. Team will work from Kyiv communicating to customers in Dallas, TX and Austin, TX offices, in a highly agile environment, following XP practices, pair programming, TDD, 12-factors app guidelines, best CI/CD practices, etc.

The majority of team members will have business trips to the US (3-6 weeks) to pair with onsite developers and obtain required business, processes and technical product knowledge to become and effective team member within the project. As a Senior Java Software Engineer you will be a core contributor to the development of new products and of existing products maintenance.

  • Devise and modify problems solving procedures considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and desired results;
  • Design, code, test, debug programs, maintain the respective records;
  • Prepare detailed specifications for programs writing, design, coding, testing and debug processes;
  • Communicate with the end-users and develop business relationships;
  • Integrate activities with other IT departments to ensure successful product implementation;
  • Monitor and report to management on project efforts status, anticipate/identify issues that inhibit the attainment of project goals, plan and implement corrective actions;
  • Foster and maintain good customer relationships and internal environment to meet expected customer service level.


  • 4+ years of experience in software design, development, testing within production projects;
  • Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred;
  • Strong Java development skills;
  • Confident knowledge of Spring framework;
  • Dedication to keeping abreast with emerging technology trends;
  • Strong relational database experience using Oracle9i/10g/11g. SQL Server, DB2, MySQL or PostgreSQL may be substituted for Oracle;
  • Web Application development experience using one of the following frameworks: SEAM, Struts, Spring, JSF, or Grails;
  • Confident use of one of the following Java Application Servers: JBoss, Glassfish, WebLogic, WebSphere;
  • Experience working in and deploying to a UNIX-based environment;
  • Experience in designing application systems;
  • Familiarity with Web Services development using either SOAP, WSDL, or REST;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently under general direction;
  • Strong understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies;
  • Intermediate or higher level of spoken English.
